2015 Gruner Veltliner

Whilst Gruner seems to do well even in the difficult years, 2015 provided optimum vintage conditions and we picked higher than normal quantities of fruit, with incredible quality and intensity.
This wine shows class Gruner Veltliner characters of cut herbs, green melon, white pepper & black fig. The palate shows texture and length from skins contact and barrel fermentation, and is balanced with steely acidity.
Drink now for its vibrancy or cellar for 5+ years for richness and complexity.

Lark Hill Gruner Veltliner 2015 surpasses the quality of its very good 2014, created in a difficult season. In contrast, “2015 provided optimum vintage conditions and we picked higher than normal quantities of fruit, with incredible quality and intensity”, winemaker Chris Carpenter writes. The intensely flavoured, deeply textured white supports Carpenter’s excitement. A multi-dimensional expression of this Austrian variety, it tingles & thrills with lemon and melon-rind tartness on a sensuous palate, with a subtle rasp of skin tannins and taut, invigorating acid.

...textural but also with chalky-phenolic dryness. Sees some barrel in addition to tank, provides a next level of depth.
Complex - and very good to drink. It kinda comes across like a super-charged Rhone white. Excellent outing... 94
